Dina Goldstien

From Dina Goldstein’s collection of princesses I have 2 photographs I really enjoyed, the first was the photo of Rapunzel were she is sitting on a hospital bed in a kind of blue room and the lighting is very distinct to attract attention to her also the fact that it shows nothing but her and her I.V and the bed and a Curtin makes you really focus on her. She has a wig set next to her and she looks very depressed. Her eyes are looking down staring at the end of her wig lying on the floor, the second is the photograph of little red riding hood were she is eating all the food out of the basket for her grandmother and she has grown very fat she is walking through the forest like before and once again the lighting is very distinct to make you focus on her and there is nothing else of extreme interest around her to make what she is doing and who she is stand out, this time though  in the basket there are fast food hamburgers and fries and she is drinking a mc Donald’s drink.

To say what happened to them after these pictures, I suppose that Rapunzel died of cancer after having massive depression and probably failure of body parts due to the chemo, the photograph promotes this because she doesn’t look very healthy at all in the picture and judging by the feeling of the whole gallery is it probably ends negatively. Little red riding hood probably suffered from a heart attack and died or became morbidly obese and sits at home all day to fat to walk to even give food to her grandmother causing her grandmother to die a painful and slow death of starvation leading red to eventually find out about this and try to commit suicide repeatedly and fail because she can’t move or reach anything without help. So she has one of the three little pigs give her poison in her food because she didn’t want to know when it was coming.
These two pictures I find funny actually morbid but funny , I love them in the fact that they do react to main issues in society but in to me comical ways

10 pic collage

Pathos,Ethos,Logos

This ad uses Pathos to inspire an emotion of guilt and sorrow for the little girl who got in the car accident and makes the person viewing the ad to want to slow down. As it says in small print at the left corner

This add uses Ethos saying that if you get there debit card that you will be as rich and famous as Usher even tho you probably wont

This ad uses Logos to just tell you the new features of the ipad tell you what it can do and leave it to that

Merchants of cool

1.There are three things that surprised me while I was watching these videos http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/cool/ and that is the fact that people buy into a lot of what they are saying about how they are watching us and just selling us what we want when if what they are selling isn’t what they think will be popular no-one will ever see it, another thing that surprised me was that they even tried to ask kids what they like so they can assume what all kids like, lastly what surprised me the most was all the money they spent on doing this just trying to make a buck off teenagers.

2. To respond to the quote
"So you can give them what you want them to have" (MTV Machine, 9:40) Mark Crispin-Miller, Communications Professor @ NYU
I agree completely with this I don’t think that the media or any of the big corporations trying to make products 'fitting' to kids know anything of what they’re doing at all, they seem to have a theme that they have been stuck in for a while and they don’t really want to venture out of...it seems easier for them to portray teens in s certain way then it would to actually look into who they are.
To this quote
"Makers of teen TV argue that they’re only reflecting the real world; media is just a mirror."  (The Giant Feedback Loop, 6:50)
About this I would have to say no and yes. They are reflecting the world now, but they kind of started a loop and look for teens to have they gave them a feel of how they are supposed to be by putting pretty people on TV doing certain things. You could show ugly people doing the exact same things and kids would not copy them all of what they are showing is what they created. They never actually videotaped a bunch of kids life’s before they started the loop to see what they were actually like. They just assumed and now there right and it will probably be this way for a long time.

native plants-v.s-logo's

I recognized 3 of the native plants and about 6 of the logo's

I was more suprised that i knew any of the native plants then the fact that i knew some of the logos
i spend alot of time watching T.V much more then sitting outside,I do think its kind of bad that i see more logo's then plants. Its bad for not only my knowlage of the world but also bad for my health that i spend so much time in front of T.V and computer screens, I dont think i need to point out how this is bad its kind of self explainitory.
